Recent Acquisitions
Jan. 25th, 2014 07:12 pmToday was the first visit the op-shop this year. (There are, of course, a number of op-shops in Launceston, but the only one I regularly go to is at Youngtown because it has the best book section. Their books are currently half price too.) Bought four books (a copy of Gray's Anatomy (see below), another Australian Classics title, a Clune picture book (no, I'm not explaining that) and "Architecture of Desire" by Mary Gentle, which it seems is not her best book ever. (Note to self: check GR before buying books). Also a rather weird 1940ish bookshelf/display cabinet thing. It wasn't always weird but someone removed the door from the cabinet side and painted the insides green, and the shelves are tiered. So the overall effect is odd. But it has shelves and it wanted to come home with me.

I also gained one afterwards too. ("Do you want this? It came in a pile of books I got.")

The Gray's book is rather nice. I already had a paperback copy (shown here for comparison) but the new one is a large hardback with dust jacket and rather nice.

Also the text and illustrations are easier to read.

When I say "large" I actually mean TOO HIGH TO FIT ON ANY OF MY SHELVES. So it's pretending to be a naval anatomical text up there on the top shelf until weird bookshelves arrive and I can rearrange things.
