While we were Christmas shopping in a local shopping centre, or mall as they are coming to be known here, we also found time to drop into a charity shop, where I picked up The Oxford History of the Classical World by John Boardman, Jasper Griffin and Oswyn Murray for a mere £3.

Great big thick paperback it is, too.
